SAN FRANCISCO BRANCH NAACP, CLERGY AND LABOR SHOW SOLIDARITY IN SUPPORT OF JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON MARTIN
SAN
FRANCISCO - On Friday, March 30, 2012, the San Francisco Branch NAACP,
San Francisco Interfaith Allies of Occupy, ACCE, ILWU and San Francisco
Labor Council will join in solidarity in support of justice for Trayvon
Martin, shot and killed in Sanford Florida by George Zimmerman. The
event will begin at 12 noon on the steps of San Francisco City Hall and
launch a week-long array of similar activities and dialogue leading to
the April 4th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
'There
still remains to be a mounting number of unanswered questions as a
result of a faulty investigation, evidence of racial bias and the
non-arrest of admitted killer George Zimmerman," said San Francisco
NAACP President, Dr. Amos Brown of the Trayvon Martin shooting. "During
this tumultuous travesty and senseless injustice, we must not be idle
but combine our voices and efforts until justice is served," Brown
added.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their 'hoodies' for the solidarity rally in support of justice for the slain 17 year.
The
NAACP also invites the broader community to a Mass Rally in honor of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. around the theme of "Occupy the Dream". The
rally will take place Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM at San
Francisco City Hall.
