SAN FRANCISCO, CA - June 20, 2018: The San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce presents the Juneteenth 2018 Business Forum & Awards Dinner on Friday, June 22, 2018, which celebrates the achievements of local business and community people, while honoring the significance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth recognizes the end of slavery in the United States, initiated by the abolition of slavery in Texas, and the further emancipation of slaves across the former Confederacy.

This year's event features a tribute to Rev. Cecil Williams, Co-Founder and Minister of Liberation of the legendary Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco. As minister, author, social activist, lecturer, community leader and spokesperson for the poor and marginalized, Reverend Williams is respected and recognized as a national leader on the forefront of change and in the struggle for civil and human rights. The tribute includes special remarks by Former San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown and Mayor Elect London Breed.
