Join us next Wednesday, May 22 at 6:45p for a screening of "Finding the Money" directed by Maren Poitras at The New Parkway in Oakland! This film is really getting noticed, and last month was featured on The Daily Show. There will be a post-screening Q&A with the director. Get your tickets now, and please take note of the earlier start time!

"Finding the Money" follows Stephanie Kelton, former chief economist to Bernie Sanders, and an intrepid group on a journey to flip our understanding of the national debt, and the nature of money, upside down — empowering countries to tackle the biggest challenges of the 21st century, from climate change to inequality. Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
