An estimated 30,000 patrons celebrated 126 works at 92 public events during CAAMFest36, the first year that CAAMFest has taken place in May.

Aldo Billingslea, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre's (LHT) Artistic Director, will direct LHT's reading of FLYIN' WEST by Pearl Cleage on Monday, June 18th at 7:00 PM. Set in 1898 in the historic, all black town of Nicodemus, Kansas, FLYIN' WEST is the inspiring and powerful story of four courageous African American women pioneers who take advantage of The Homestead Act and travel West to build new lives for themselves and their families against tremendous odds. As part of "Project One Voice" over 45 theaters, museums and artistic organizations nationwide and abroad will stage a reading of Cleage's play.
