W.E. Community Spotlight highlights Food for Thought and The Palate for San Francisco Recovery Theatre. On Friday January 26, 2018 SF Recovery Theatre (SFRT) will present "A Trip Down Memory Lane", another edition of their ongoing "Night at the Black Hawk" series, chronicling the lives and times of the artist and residents that lived in the shadow of the famed Black Hawk jazz club. The lunchtime concert includes healthy food options provided by The Green Mobile Health Education Kitchen (GMHEK).

By continuing this annual poetry program, we honor eloquent poets of the past, such as Lee Williams, who joined the ancestors, January 1 last year, Arnold White, Joy Holland, Kamau Seitu, and many others who remain vivid in our memories. Our participants have ranged in age from 8 to 80, including published writers, award-winning authors and brand new poets reading their work in public for the first time. Music, dance and costumes have enhanced past performances as each participant shares her or his unique style. We also have poets performing in ensemble. You are invited to showcase your work.

Great & pioneering dancer, Carmen de Lavallade, longtime wife of pioneering dancer Geoffrey Holder, honored by the Kennedy Center Honors inspired one Oakland youth. 15 year old Angela Watson, dancing in San Francisco's "Nutcracker" for the second consecutive year as "Clara," has yet another role model to behold as she begins her journey as a dancer. The beautiful, youthful, strong, creative phenom with a work ethic beyond her years, already dreams of paying it forward for other Black dancers.

Condolences to his family, close friends and colleagues. The City pays its respect to Mayor Lee at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Rotunda of San Francisco City Hall.
