Janice Edwards of NBC 11 was the Mistress of Ceremonies!

It was entertainment with a purpose beyond fun.

Proclamations by Mayor Willie Brown and California State Assemblyman Mark Leno added special significance to the event.

Then candidate for D.A., Kamala Harris, who is now San Francisco's and California's first African American District Attorney, took the mic for a few words of greeting.

Joe Wright (Jackie's brother) looks on as sister, Phyllis jokes about 8-15 actually being Joe's birthday. Joe was given a special present. After Friday's Community Leadership Fundraiser, Jackie's Jubilee continued with Family and Friends gathered at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday night for Jackie's actual birthday, and a Sunday cake-cutting celebration at Christian City Church San Francisco.

Proclamations from San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. and California State Assemblyman Mark Leno were surprises at Jackie's Jubilee.


Kelly Castagnaro, Jackie Wright, Kamala Harris and Bay Area journalist and broadcast personality, Noah Griffin enjoy a surprise serenade of "Journey to the Past" from singer and songwriter, Candis Wright (Jackie's niece).
