WHO: Danny Glover, Dr. Amos Brown, President NAACP, Reverend Arnold Townsend, Vice President, NAACP, Jacquie Taliaferro, Communication Director, NAACP, Featured in "Soundtrack for a Revolution," a film by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman: Ambassador Andrew Young, Julian Bond, Harry Belafonte, Congressman John Lewis, Wyclef Jean, Joss Stone, John Legend, Mary Mary, The Roots, Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, The Blind Boys of Alabama, TV on the Radio, and The Carlton Reese Memorial Unity Choir.

WHAT: A film screening of "A Soundtrack for a Revolution" to benefit the NAACP San Francisco Branch in the very environment that helped spawn the music of the Civil Rights era. The event will include a question and answer period with Executive Producer, Danny Glover and a VIP Reception in honor of Danny Glover and the film that is a hopeful to make it among the 5 documentary films to be nominated for an Academy Award (announcement to be made Groundhog Day, February 2, 2010) with awards presented March 7th.  Third Baptist Church provides a ground zero experience for seeing the film in the original surrounding that created "Soundtrack for A Revolution."

WHERE: Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAlister Street, San Francisco, CA  94115, near historic Alamo Square.

WHEN: On the actual birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., January 15, 2010.  6 p.m. VIP Reception with Executive Producer Danny Glover; 7 p.m. Film Screening with question and answer with Danny Glover moderated by San Francisco Filmmaker Jacquie Taliaferro, following the screening.  Tickets ranging from $10-100 can be purchased online at www.groovetickets.com (search "Soundtrack for a Revolution") or call 1 877-71-GROOV- (47668).

WHY: Justice and equality can only be achieved with on-going vigilance.  The work of the Civil Rights Era continues with leadership from the NAACP.  Although the 44th President of the United States is the first president of African descent, vestiges of racism and equality still remain in the U.S.   "Soundtrack for A Revolution" pays homage to the Civil Rights Era and the multicultural sacrifice of people in the United States to achieve freedom and justice.  It is a befitting film to assist the on-going work of the NAACP through this fundraiser on the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The event, conceived by filmmaker and NAACP Communications Director Jacquie Taliaferro, celebrates the past and gives recognition to the work of all that participated in the film as it is a contender to become among the five documentaries to be honored at the Academy Awards March 7, 2010. 

"Soundtrack for a Revolution" is among the 15 films being considered for a nomination. February 2nd the five documentary films that make it to the nomination level will be announced and Oscars will be presented March 7, 2010.
