Soundtrack for a Revolution Oscar Nomination Hopeful
Celebration with Danny Glover
To also assist Haiti
as filmmakers
Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman sign on to appear

Historic, Third Baptist Church, near Alamo Square will be site of NAACP Benefit Screening
of Soundtrack for a Revolution that will now also assist the survivors of the Haitian Earthquake.

San Francisco- "The Soundtrack for a Revolution Oscar Nomination Hopeful Celebration with Danny Glover," on the actual birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Third Baptist Church lead by NAACP President the Reverend Dr. Amos Brown will include fundraising for Haiti which was hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday.

"Yes, this event started out as a benefit for the NAACP and that it is, but as people gather together in Third Baptist Church to pay homage to the Civil Rights era that helped the suffering of so many people, we must also engage everyone to help the Haitian people now," said Jacquie Taliaferro of LaHitz Media which is presenting the event.

LaHitz Media and Wright Enterprises presenters of  "Soundtrack for a Revolution Oscar Nomination Hopeful Celebration with Danny Glover" will ask the audience to write checks payable to the American Red Cross and/or Hollywood Unites for Haiti, a non profit actor J Jimmy Jean-Louis with Haitian Childrenfounded by actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, "the Haitian" in the NBC hit series "Heroes."  Jimmy Jean-Louis was in the Bay Area last October for the debut at the Oakland International Film Festival of "Life Outside the Pearl," a film by Johnny Desarmes in which Jean-Louis stars as a detective.  Jean-Louis also participated in the launch of the LaHitz Media, Wright Enterprises, Afric' Elance, and Baobab Motion's  "Help Mama Africa" (http://www.wrightnow.biz/apps/articles/default.asp?articleid=57425&columnid=) campaign during the Cannes International Film Festival May 2009.

"I have seen Jimmy's appeal on Hollywood Unites for Haiti" website and its heart breaking to know he has not been able to reach his family and friends," said Jackie Wright of Wright Enterprises co-presenter of  "Soundtrack for a Revolution Oscar Nomination Hopeful Celebration."  " I know Jimmy is a compassionate humanitarian filled with grace and love for people.  It would be unconscionable for us to be gathered in a church on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and not ask people to help Haiti.  It is totally within the spirit of the Civil Rights movement and the film.   Also, it makes sense from a spiritually synchronistic perspective as well given Danny Glover's Loverture Films with Joslyn Barnes and their goal to produce a film on Toussaint L'Overture and Haiti.  He talked a little about that during a radio interview on KPOO Tuesday,"  (Listen to podcast about the event on Community Worker with Danny Glover, Dan Sturman, Jackie Wright, and host Eric Smith, engineered by Roland Washington: http://redtapsessions.com/?p=552).

"Soundtrack for a Revolution" is a multicultural project that reignites the Civil Rights story through music.  The film weaves in young and old, racial diversity, contemporary renditions of old Civil Rights songs, and front line Civil Rights leaders like Congressman John Lewis, Julian Bond, Harry Belafonte, former Ambassador Andrew Young and never before seen footage to capture the imagination of a younger generation and touch the hearts of those who lived through the struggle for equality.

"Soundtrack for a Revolution" is on the shortlist of 15 documentaries being considered for an Oscar nomination.  February 2nd the Academy Awards will announce five documentaries that will be in contention for the Oscar.  The Academy Awards will be presented on March 7, 2010.

"Soundtrack for a Revolution Oscar Nomination Hopeful Celebration with Danny Glover" on January 15, 2010 at Third Baptist Church lead by NAACP President Reverend Dr. Amos Brown will include a 6:oo p.m. VIP reception honoring Glover, followed by the 7:00 p.m. screening of "Soundtrack for a Revolution" with a question and answer period with Glover and filmmakers Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman moderated by filmmaker Jacquie Taliaferro.

After an inspirational evening, to assist those who attend the event who may want to stay for the evening or weekend in San Francisco, the INTERCONTINENTAL SAN FRANCISCO, has provided attendees with a special rate of $125 per night, not including hotel tax.  Attendees will be given a special online link to make their reservations.
