MIRACLE WELLness CENTER & HAITIAN RELIEF


Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Kicks Off Black History Month at  Miracles of Faith Community Church in Oakland.

WHO- The Reverend Greggory Brown, community leader and activist in the wake of the deaths of Brandon Morris, Oscar Grant and young Black men in Oakland, Bay Area Hollywood Star Barry Shabaka Henley, Musical Virtuoso Pianist Ricardo Scales, Community Leaders:  Cathy Adams, Founding President of 100 Black Women Oakland Bay Area, Dee Johnson, Founder & Executive Director: Lend a Hand Foundation; Saundra Andrews, Community Liaison for Congresswoman Barbara Lee; John Kline, Finance Planner Thrivent Financial Corporation, Pastor Rickey Richard-Walker, Director, First Step Outreach Ministry for At-Risk Youth; The Reverend Sarah Isakson, Pastor, Church of the Cross (ELCA), Minister Shirlin Williams, Pastor Phil Lawson, Director of East Bay Housing Organization, Stephanie Davenport, Health Ministry Program Coordinator at Alta Bates Summit Hospital, Berteenia Rainey, Community Advocate at Rainey Love Outreach Ministries and others.

WHAT- It’s a free to the public special observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the eve of Black History Month with talent, Grammy nominated recording artist Ricardo Scales, One Accord Praise Dancers, Gospel Singing Sensation Jordana Jiltondro, Oaktown Jazz Workshop, just back from the Morning Glory Tour in Japan, Reverend Bill Combs and Sister Dorothy Morrison with Guest Minister Amos Carter; The Young Hoofer Jeremiah Borens, Spoken Word Artist Timothy Ayati Reaves and others that will raise funds in part in support of the Haitian Assistance and Miracles of Faith Resource Center and the Miracle WELLness Center.

WHERE- Miracles of Faith Community Church, 4335 Virginia Ave., Oakland, CA 94619

WHEN- Sunday, January 31st at 3:30 p.m.

WHY- Miracles of Faith is a church that gives back to the community with programs such as a Food Bank and Medical Wellness Center for people in need around the Virginia Avenue area of Oakland.  The special observance will give media an opportunity to report on positive things going on in Oakland.  It will honor Bay Area Hollywood Star Barry Shabaka Henley and community leaders.  Henley most recently attended the "Soundtrack for a Revolution Hopeful Celebration with Danny Glover" in support of the NAACP and Haitian Relief.  Last November he served as the emcee for the San Francisco NAACP 100th Anniversary Bold Dreams~Big Victories Gala with The Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.

Sunday's King Celebration will be an opportunity for funds to be raised for Haiti, the food bank and the Wellness Clinic through the offerings of the public at the free event.  It will also showcase the talent of Bay Area artists.
