JOIN MONS AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD EMPOWERMENT NETWORK (NEN) CLEAN & GREEN SUMMIT ON SATURDAY, MAY 8TH
As part of its effort to make San Francisco the most sustainable city in the world, MONS recognizes that the real work to achieve this goal begins at the neighborhood level.
This all day event features

DEDICATION CEREMONY WITH MAYOR NEWSOM AND THE SAN FRANCISCO ARTS COMMISSION (SFAC) IN CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THREE HEADS SIX ARMS
Join us in celebration of the world premiere of Three Heads
Six Arms by acclaimed contemporary artist Zhang Huan. The art sculpture is the artist's largest artwork to date and will be located in Civic Center Plaza through 2011 as part of the Shanghai-San Francisco Sister City 30th Anniversary Celebration.
Everyone is Invited!  Wednesday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m.
at Larkin Street between the Main Library and the Asian Art Museum.
COMMUNITY MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS
LAGUNA HONDA HOSPITAL AND REHABILITATION CENTER'S COMMUNITY TOWN HALL MEETINGS 
Meetings will be located in the Residents' Library in the hospital on 
Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 8:00am, 1:30pm, and 8:30pm

LAST MCLAREN PARK COMMUNITY WORKSHOP ON MAY 19TH
The Recreation and Parks Department, Neighborhood Parks Council and Parks Trust will hold the last workshop to discuss the improvement needs at McLaren Park.  The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 19th from 6:30pm-8:00pm located at Louis Sutter Playground Roundhouse. For more information contact Tina Kim or Karen Mauney-Brodek at 415.831.2789 or Karen.Mauney-Brodek@sfgov.org.

MAYOR NEWSOM MARKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY BY SIGNING LANDMARK ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT
Mayor Newsom signed legislation requiring developers to use landscaping and permeable paving to beautify the city and keep excess rainwater out of the sewers. The Green Landscaping Ordinance will primarily affect new development, but also will apply to property owners who make significant alterations to their properties.

MAYOR NEWSOM ANNOUNCES COMMERCIAL DISTRICT CAPITAL GRANTS PROGRAM AWARDEES
Mayor Newsom announced that the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) has awarded a total of $520,464 dollars through the Commercial District Capital Grant Program to support the City's commercial corridors and local business districts.

Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
