On Lok Inc. to Receive $25,000 from Bank of America

 

On Lok's ability to improve quality of life is in alignment with Bank of America's strategy to build community capacities.

 



WHAT: Check presentation to On Lok Inc. for $25,000 to help the organization continue to provide opportunity and improve the quality of life in the San Francisco community, a key to Bank of America's Charitable Foundation's strategy to build capacities that truly make a difference.

 

WHO: On Lok Officials: Amy Shin, Chief Administration Officer, Irene Yee Riley, Board member, Elizabeth Ferguson, Board Member; Community Leaders and Bank of America Charitable Foundation Officials

WHEN:  Check Presentation Ceremony 6:30 P.M.,TODAY, Tuesday, December 21, 2010 (Check presentation event is 6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. with a short check presentation ceremony at 6:30 p.m.)

 

Why: On Lok Inc.'s $25,000 grant from the Bank of America will allow the organization to fund capital improvements and renovations for On Lok Community Housing, maximize operations at the 30th Street Center, the largest multi-purpose senior center in San Francisco and develop a new customer service initiative to help serve its diverse population.

 On Lok, inc. is a not-for-profit organization founded in the early 1970s by a group of citizens concerned about the plight of elders and the lack of long-term options in the community.  Now, several decades later, On Lok, inc. serves seniors in the community through: On Lok Lifeways- a comprehensive health plan that provides long-term care for eligible seniors helping the frail elderly stay in their homes; 30th Street Senior Center - the largest multi-purpose senior center in San Francisco offering a broad range of programs; On Lok Intergenerational Program - a program that brings together On Lok Lifeways members and children; and Housing - three buildings with various types of residential units for older adults. On Lok Inc. supports seniors and their families, enabling them to age in place with dignity and independence.
