Bank of America Charitable Foundation

On Lok's ability to improve the Bay Area's quality of life in alignment with

Bank of America's strategy to build community capacity

San Francisco, CA -Just days before Christmas, On Lok Inc. received a gift from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation that will allow the organization to keep on giving. With the $25,000 contribution, On Lok Inc. will fund capital improvements and renovations for On Lok Community Housing, develop a new customer service initiative to help serve its diverse population, and maximize operations at its 30th Street Center, the largest multi-purpose senior center in San Francisco.

"We are honored that Bank of America recognizes the importance of the work On Lok does to improve the quality of life for frail seniors and their families," said Amy Shin, chief administrative officer, On Lok, Inc. "The renovations and capital improvements will bring great joy to the seniors and staff at our Center. The timing makes the grant an outstanding Christmas gift for us and the seniors we serve."

According to Michelle Brega, Senior Bay Area Market Manager, Bank of America, On Lok was one of five nonprofit organizations being recognized at the check presentation ceremony for their work in support of the Asian community.  "Continually improving the quality of life in San Francisco is evident in all that On Lok does. We are very pleased to recognize the work they do in providing long term quality care to the elderly."

The check presentation celebrating the work of On Lok Inc. was held at the Bank of America Chinatown Banking Center. Other organizations receiving grants included Asian American-Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, Chinese Newcomers Services Center, Chinese Culture Foundation and Asian Neighborhood Design, Inc. On Lok Inc. board members Irene Yee Riley and Elizabeth Ferguson and other community leaders were on hand for the check presentation ceremony and celebration.
