Harmony & Melody... was
conceived by and GCCP's founder and artistic director Pamela
Freund-Striplen to use music as a bridge towards racial and cultural
unity, peace and understanding. Beamen, a Walnut Creek resident, is a critically celebrated vocalist. His singing career started at the tender age of 6. At
17, while in collage studying for his masters in psychology, a
matriarch at his church asked him, "How would you like to sing for the
NAACP honoring Rosa Parks"? He said, "Yes!" Beamen is nationally and internationally known and has performed for well known dignitaries from a former President to a Pope. He has also performed for California Pacific Medical Center's African American Breast Health program and sang the National Anthem for the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland A's and the Golden State Warriors; he as also opened for musical artists as Patti LaBelle and Kirk Franklin.
Since its founding in 1987, GCCP has become recognized for its high quality performances and innovative programming, offering an annual series of concerts | photo by 510media
