For over 20 years the Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce (SVBCC) has led the way in creating innovative programs and events designed to economically empower groups and individuals from all walks of life.  As we continue our pursuit of improving the lives of our community, we offer the Next Gen Business Academy empowering our youth to become the next generation in business professionals.

The Next Gen Business Academy targets High School youth from all ethnic groups.  Our goal is to help produce the next generation of "business minds" by laying down a solid foundation from which they can build and be successful.

Each year the SVBCC hosts the "Greens & Hot Links Fundraiser Golf Tournament.  The SVBCC hosts an awards banquet for the students of the business academy as well as award "start-up" funding to students to help get their businesses off the ground.

It is support that helps young entrepreneurs get their first start at real world business.  So come out and join us.  We welcome "young" and "old" professionals to beginners.

Social Media Conference

Growing Your Small Business with Social Media

Thursday, June 23

7:00 AM - 12:00 PM

San Jose City Hall Rotunda

200 East Santa Clara St.

San Jose 95113

Social Media is now a powerful influence over the purchasing choices that companies and consumers are making every day.

You can grow your business through a better understanding of the range of tools and services available to your business by attending the Small Business Social Media conference on Thursday, June 23, 2011.

In the last few years Social Media like

Facebook, LinkedIn, Groupon, Yelp, Livingsocial and Google have become a tremendous influence on the purchasing choices that companies and consumers are making every day.  Businesses not incorporating social media strategies may be missing an opportunity to extend their reach to new customers.  As the economy begins its recovery, companies with a strong on-line presence will be able to grow more quickly than those restricting themselves to traditional marketing channels.

The City of San Jose and BusinessOwnerSpace.com have developed an event to provide small businesses interested in leveraging Social Media with an understanding of the offerings of the large social media outlets as well as some of the newest concepts coming on the market.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend workshops (beginning and intermediate tracks will be offered), discuss particulars at resource tables, and even get hands-on use of a computer lab to enroll or begin taking the first steps the same day.
