2011 Latino Heritage Month Celebration and Awards Ceremony

Public Meeting: Proposed Changes to C-3 Planning Code

  

When: Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 5:30 PM

Where: African American Arts & Culture Complex, 762 Fulton Street, 3rd Floor

 

San Francisco Arts Commission will be hosting a public meeting to discuss the contents of the new legislation pertaining to Section 429 of the Planning Code.
 
The current legislation requires that developers within the downtown C-3 district expend 1% of their project construction cost to acquire and place permanent public art at their development site. This meeting will address the proposed changes to the current code which include establishing a Public Art Trust.
 
This Trust will provide for a wide variety of arts programming in the downtown district, serve as a funding source for capital improvements for cultural facilities in the downtown area, and a funding reserve for SF artists and arts organizations. Other changes include expanding the present boundary of the "benefit district" by a half mile.
 
This meeting is your opportunity to ask questions and provide input and feedback on the proposed changes before the legislation is introduced to the Planning Commission on October 27.

San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department & San Francisco Parks Trust presents: Scaregrove Scaregrove

2011 American Indian Heritage Month and Celebration

KQED proudly celebrates the richness and diversity of the greater San Francisco Bay Area by commemorating November, American Indian Heritage Month. During the month of November, KQED Public TV 9 schedules a special lineup of programs focused on American Indian themes and issues. These programs are highlighted in a guide along with listings of community resources and local events.

KQED, The San Francisco Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services, Native American AIDS Project, and San Francisco Native American Health Center were proud to celebrate the rich culture of the American Indian community with dancing, drumming, and a special awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov 4, at San Francisco City Hall. We celebrated four outstanding Local Heroes for their work in the American Indian community.

The Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services is proud to be an organizational partner of the 2011 NEN Awards.

 

The Award ceremony will celebrate the amazing work of community leaders and organizations in San Francisco's neighborhoods.  

As is the tradition with the NEN Awards, the winners are nominated by the community.   

Of the many categories to choose from, NEN is especially eager to hear whom your community feels  should be acknowledged in the "Comeback Neighborhood of the Year" category.
