Change to Win, CWA, Media Alliance, Media Action Center, Free Press. Avaaz, Occupy LA and others joined to welcome Rupert Murdoch to Los Angeles on October 21st. Firedog Lake recorded this video. 

World of Opera Independently Syndicated After November 11th

In another moment of disconnect between community media and the public media machine, WDAV announced they would begin independently syndicating "World of Opera" with host Lisa Simeone. National Public Radio dropped the program due to Simeone's involvement with the Occupy DC protest. 

Consumer Groups Sue Pepsico/Frito-Lay for Deceptive Digital Marketing to Teens

Four consumer groups including the Center for Digital Democracy and the Praxis Project filed an FTC complaint against Pepsico for soda and Doritos immersive social media marketing including Hotel 626, a game designed to (quote) "scare the crap" out of teenagers.

Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
