November 22, 1930 - Elijah Muhammad established the nation of Islam. 

 

November 12, 1941 -Madame Lillian Evanto founds the National Negro Opera Company.    

 

November 27, 1990 -Charles Johnson awarded National Book Award for fiction for Middle Passage

Slow Cooked Braised Beef Brisket  

 Serves 6  

10-12 hours low or 5-6 hours high  

 

1 lb fresh beef brisket   

2 cups of sliced carrots  

1 cup finely chopped white large onion   

1 cup dry red wine 

1/3 cup tomato paste  

2 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca  

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp. garlic salt

2 tsp. liquid smoke

1 1/2 tsp. chili powder 

1 tsp. Slap Ya Momma Creole Seasoning 

or seasoning salt 

salt and pepper

3 cups hot cooked mashed potatoes   

 

Trim fat from brisket. Cut beef to fit in a 5-quart slow cooker. Place carrots and onion in cooker. Top with brisket. In a medium bowl stir together wine, tomato paste, tapioca, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, liquid smoke, and chili powder; pour over brisket in cooker.


Cover and cook on low-heat (10-12 hours) or high heat (5-6 hours). Season to taste with salt and pepper.


Serve vegetables and brisket with mash potatoes.

SCORE is counselors to America's small businesses. Staffed by retired or working business owners and executives that have many years of experience with some of the issues you might face with your business.

SCORE can provide general advice, from how to write a business plan to cash flow management and how to expand your existing business. Assistance is provided via face-to-face counsel-ing at our facility.
