2nd Annual Kulinarya - Filipino Culinary Showdown

Kulinarya

Kulinarya is a favorite Filipino term for "culinary" or "cuisine" that had its auspicious beginnings as a cultural tourism program of the Philippine Department of Tourism a few years ago. It is definitely sweeter for Kulinarya's second time around as a cooking competition, food showcase, and Filipino bazaar.

The 2nd annual competition will be held at the Carnelian by the Bay Restaurant at One Ferry Plaza, San Francisco on January 21, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Beijing Wushu Team Performs in Bay Area

Beijing Wushu Team

The world renowned Beijing Wushu Team is touring the San Francisco Bay Area this month. Considered one of the best wushu (modernized Chinese martial arts) teams in the world, the team's history is legendary. It has consistently dominated national and world championship events.

From 1975 to 1985, the team achieved a feat that no team has ever accomplished, before or since - winning the national championship for ten consecutive years. As Wushu competition has increased over the years, the team has remained a powerhouse in martial arts:  the current touring team includes World Champion, Li Xin Yu and National Champion, Wang Xi.

The Tiger Claw Foundation is supporting their special U.S. tour which kicks off at Stanford University's Burnham Pavilion on January 18-19 at 7:00PM 615 Serra Street, Stanford, CA and continues at the Palace of Fine Arts, January 21 at 3:00PM and 7:00PM, 3301 Lyon Street, San Francisco, CA. Space is limited and seats will go fast. Presented by Pacific Wushu and S.M.A.P.

The Beijing Wushi Team has also produced a number of famous action movie stars. One of the team's earliest, and most famous members is Jet Li, who trained on the team from an early age.  Zhenwei Wang, who played Cheng in The Karate Kid (2010), is also a current member of the team, and will be performing on the tour.

For tickets, contact Pacific Wushu, 650-42-WUSHU pacificwushu.com/tickets or the Tiger Claw Headquarters, 40740 Encyclopedia Circle, Fremont, CA 94538 510-668-1100
