Peace and Economic Justice Rally to Precede Program

 
Oakland, CA (January 25, 2012)- Northern California Interreligious Conference continues to honor the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on the cusp of Black History Month and in celebration of Chinese New Year with the Sixth Annual Miracles of Music Jazz/Gospel Festival at Miracles of Faith Church, ELCA 4335 Virginia Avenue, Oakland, CA 94619 at 3:30 p.m, Sunday, January 29, 2012.  Special honorees are Pastor Brondon and Maria Reems, Mr. Walter Riley, Ms. Donna Murphy, and Mr. Tabe Gipson.

In the wake of recent homicides and "Occupy" protests, a Peace and Economic Justice Rally will be held in the 3100 Block of High Street at 3:30. the program will continue at Miracles of Faith.

Reverend Dr. Joseph Bryant Jr., Senior Pastor of Calvary Hill Community Church in San Francisco's Bayview Hunters' Point, Director of the San Francisco Bay Area Rainbow P.U.S.H. and Host of KDIA's "Shout Out" will be the keynote speaker.  The event will feature the music from the San Francisco Bay Area's finest including Ricardo Scales,  Rob Collier, Cynthia Carter-Hill, Center of Hope Praise Singers and Shaila Head."
 
As we get ready to move into the Black History Month Celebrations and celebrate Chinese New Year, we should remember the great examples of the spirit of God in men like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. everyday," said Reverend Greggory L. Brown, Board President of NCIC and Senior Pastor of Miracles of Faith Church.  "We are pleased Reverend Bryant is joining us and his work with the San Francisco Bay Area Rainbow P.U.S.H and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, a  protégé of Dr. King, is greatly appreciated.  We thank our sponsors and we ask everyone to join us for a wonderful celebratory occasion that will lift the hearts of all people, and inspire us to take on the hard work of eradicating violence and social injustice" added Brown.
