KALW Presents Tavis Smiley & Cornel West at The Paramount

On Saturday, April 28th at 6pm, Tavis Smiley and Cornel West will speak about their new book, The Rich and the Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto, at The Paramount Theatre in Oakland.

KALW is proud to present Tavis Smiley & Dr. West in their only Bay Area appearance, and to be partnering with local organizations that are raising awareness about economic inequality, providing direct services to the poor, and building wealth in poor communities. They will be in the Paramount's lobby on the night of the event, and we hope you'll take the opportunity to learn about what's happening in the grassroots struggle to fight

Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
