BLACK GIRLS ROCK! QUEENS' CAMP FOR LEADERSHIP AND EXCELLENCE - 2012

In the summer of 2011,  Beverly Bond, the Founder and Executive Director of BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc., launched the inaugural SUMMER QUEENS' CAMP FOR LEADERSHIP & EXCELLENCE in response to the overwhelming demand to expand the BLACK GIRLS ROCK ROCK! mentoring programs.  As a result, 30 exceptional girls from various socioeconomic and geographical backgrounds received full scholarships to engage in an enriching and life-changing experience. They bonded and triumphed over new physical and personal challenges, engaged in community service tasks, and cultivated memorable lasting friendships.

This year the two-week intensive leadership program will be held at a beautiful fully equipped camp facility located in Rhinebeck, NY from July 21, 2012 to August 4, 2012. This overnight camp is designed for exemplary teenage girls of color who will come to BLACK GIRLS ROCK! from across the world. Through a highly selective application process, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! will accept female applicants who exhibit strong leadership qualities, high moral character, and excellent academic standing. This year, we are proud to announce that we will provide scholarships for 50 participants!

Through a series of dynamic programs our camp will emphasize the importance of team work, striving for excellence, community service, and critical thinking in order to promote self-confidence, social development and active leadership. Our goal is to foster the participants' intentional pursuit of excellence, integrity, self-discipline, and collective accountability so that they may be prepared to be sound leaders in academics, public service, and civic engagement.

Application must be postmarked by May 15th 2012.
