PRODUCED, WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY JASON ORR
for FunkJazz Kafé/ Life Arts Films

Full movie narrated by CHUCK D.

This film is the story of a cultural legend as told by the innovators of an important, and in some cases overlooked, era in Black culture. Spanning the late 1980′s through to the early 2000′s, this story goes deep into the fabric of soul music, it's definitions, it's pioneers, it's offspring, it's movements, the challenges with the "mainstream" industry as well as the evolution of the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival, a music and artistic renaissance movement born out of Atlanta's diverse musical and cultural arts heritage. The film covers the decade when Atlanta's underground music scene became established on the world stage and a new generation of soul singers and musicians emerged. FunkJazz Kafé:Diary Of A Decade (The Story Of A Movement) also explores the question of how we got to live soul bands being non-existing in the commercial music landscape of the 21st century when there once was a plethora of soul and R&B bands since the creation of recorded music.

GHETT'A LIFE
..................................
GHETT'A LIFE is an "against the odds" action drama set in a politically turbulent inner city community of Kingston. Derrick, a determined inner city teenager realizes his dream of becoming a champion boxer despite a country, community and family conflicted by divisive political system.

GHETT'A LIFE is a wholly Jamaican film with all investors, cast and crew being committed to an authentic depiction of what life is and what life can be in the inner city of Kingston. This film with it's positive message of overcoming adversity and ignorance will inspire audiences at home and abroad.

Thugs The Musical
..................................
After years of auditioning, but not being considered 'black enough' to be cast in any of the stereotypical roles that his fellow black actors have been getting (the Gangsta, the fast-talking Sidekick, the doomed Black Guy at the party in the horror movie), Michael decides to start his own theater production called THUGS THE MUSICAL and hires a cast and production group as hapless as he. His mission: to give a gritty, authentic depiction of life in the ghetto through musical theater, and to show Hollywood and the world that he and his fellow Blacktors can 'act black.'

The story of Zane - the only white kid growing up in a ghetto neighborhood who against all the pressure around him, struggles to try and choose the most righteous path for his own life instead of falling into the pit of crime.

With a budget of $300 and a crew of 2, Zane was shot in the streets of Oakland, California - an area consistently among the top five in highest rates of violent crime in the US.
