Governor Brown Signs ALEC-Inspired Telecom Bill - SB 1161

Jerry Brown signed the Padilla-sponsored telephone deregulation bill SB 1161, an ALEC-derived scheme to allow telecoms to rebrand themselves as VOIP providers and escape consumer-friendly regulation. The growing number of states passing similar bills may force the FCC to review the national regulatory framework. 

Wireless Shutdowns Becoming Increasingly Familiar

All over the globe, wireless networks keep getting shut down by governments citing security issues and terrorist threats. 50 million people in 15 cities were cut off on September 21st when the Pakistani ministry of the interior pulled the switch.
