Dear Community,

Hope you all enjoyed the last wave of summer heat and are having a great start to October and your Fall programming!

A new Holiday section has been added to our community calendar in preparation for the Fall/Winter holiday offerings from your respective organizations. Please send us any details of events/programs you are offering for youth and their families (Holiday events, food giveaways, toy giveaways, Holiday meal offerings, etc) to include in our weekly calendar in preparation for this time of the year.

WHO: Golden Gate Audubon Society
WHAT: Lend your hands in support of local birds
WHERE: Pier 94 in San Francisco
DIRECTIONS:  Take Third Street to Cargo Way turn left onto Amador St.(an industrial road which turns right). The address is 480 Amador St in San Francisco (an office trailer for a neighbor). Turn into the gravel parking lot before the chain link fence. Just ahead you will see a small light blue sign next to white barriers. This is the entrance to Pier 94.
Public Transit: Use this Pier 94 map.
WHEN: Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 9:00am-12noon

NOTES: Please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.  Bring a water bottle if you have one to minimize trash.  We'll provide instruction, gloves, tools, snacks and water. Join us to improve a site along the Bay.  Activities include learning about the local birds and removing weeds to allow native plants to thrive.

Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
