Time for Change with All Due Respect

Dear Friends,

With all due respect to the accomplishments of the San Francisco NAACP, on Sunday, October 28, according to protocol, I gave my speech as to why I am running for President of the San Francisco Branch of the NAACP.  The regular meeting of the branch was held as it has been for years at Third Baptist Church with Senior Pastor Dr. Amos Brown, who has held the presidency of the NAACP for many years.
As I share with you my candidacy, I first would like to ask that you become a member of the NAACP

or at the least make a donation to this great organization.

This legacy organization is worthy of your support and involvement. The NAACP has helped Blacks, Asians, Latinos, Women and our entire nation.  I got involved several years ago after I had made some statements about the Red Cross' program.  My business colleague, Jackie Wright said to me "The Red Cross is a membership organization.  If you are not  at the table you cannot direct the course of the organization's actions."

I applied that reasoning to the NAACP and got involved around the Gala several years ago
The Gala was an entry point to the many areas of concern that need to be addressed.I share with you briefly what I said to the forty or more members present on Sunday.  "There's no way I can do this job by myself.  I need your help and Dr. Brown's help.  He has done many great things for this organization and it should be acknowledged by making him President Emeritus.  We need change.  As president I will work on bringing corporations to the table to help get people work, not for just a few but for all. We are America.  We can do better than this.  I will engage younger people to bring their vitality and vision to the organization.  I put out a call to all people to join the NAACP.  It's not just a Black organization.  Asians, Latinos, and Whites need to be at the table with us to help make this a truly fair society.  We have got to be at the forefront of strengthening our economy.  We have to bring equitable solutions for all.  I make a call for unity and will work with other NAACP chapters locally to make a stronger organization.  We can make a difference.  We need to make a change!"

There's much to be done.  It begins with you.  Although, joining now will not make you eligible for the upcoming vote on November 18, it will help get us on the path for change.  What is the NAACP doing?  Not enough, without you!  What are you doing?  You make a difference.  Let's strengthen this organization that is needed now more than ever.  We stand on the shoulders of our ancestors.  Let's not stand with our hands folded doing nothing. Let's clasp hands in solidarity and move forward in a new direction.

And as a reminder, get out to vote on Tuesday and bring your family and friends with you.  All hands on deck for freedom and the American way!

Sincerely,
Jacquie Taliaferro
SF NAACP Presidential Candidate
