WHAT:         A Red Carpet Preview Reception highlighting the Oakland International Film Festival's Centerpiece film "Rice Field of Dreams" by Cambodian American filmmaker Daron Ker.  "Rice Field of Dreams," a documentary about Cambodian refugee Joe Cook, who escaped the Khmer Rouge and eventually became a chef in an Alabama restaurant, as Cook returns to Cambodia to form the nation's first competitive international baseball team.

4-7th brings positive attention Oakland as a destination for the arts.  The festival that outreaches to the Bay Area and the world, will kickoff the news of the festival in South San Francisco as a way to welcome the wider Bay Area.  

Oakland has a rich tapestry of artistic talent.  The Oakland International Film Festival is a testament to Oakland's artistry, the positive happenings while dealing with the realistic challenges in Oakland.  An aspect of the festival's multicultural outreach will include screenings at the Grand Lake Theater, Oakland's Asian Cultural Center, San Leandro Performing Arts Center, The New Parkway Theater, and the Black Repertory Theater.  Visit www.oiff.org.
