multicultural filmmakers and established Hollywood filmmakers to display
work reflecting the African Diaspora and interact with each other as it
stimulates tourism. SFBFF goes beyond entertainment. The developing
brand as it increases tourism will ultimately become an economic engine

#10 DeSean Jackson: The Making of A Father's Dream will also be
screened again at the California College of Arts, 1111 Eighth Street in
San Francisco, CA 94107, on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16. The program begins at 2:00 p.m. with a 30 minute version of " Brown Babies,"
a film by German Director Michaela Kirst that tells of the children of
German women and Black U.S. Soldiers born immediately after World War
II, who are now searching for their heritage. One of the featured
stories is about Peggy Blow, a veteran actress, who starred in "The Hat

### A Sad but Triumph Community News Note
Jackie Wright of Wright Enterprises, joins with the San Francisco Community in the mourning of the passing of Vera Lee Clanton.
Ms. Clanton's expertise in fashion design was recognized during the San
Francisco Black Film Festival, as 2011 film festival honoree Gerry Lange
(First public affairs director for KBHK and mother of
actor/director/producer Ted Lange of "Love Boat" fame), saluted Ms.
Clanton for providing her total on air wardrobe when Lange hosted a
community affairs show on KBHK, now CW Bay Area TV.
A stalwart
community leader who served the community well into her nineties, Ms
Clanton was an active fellow member of the San Francisco Chapter of the
National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She established The Berry and
Vera Lee Clanton Endowment Scholarship" at San Francisco State
University. Ms. Clanton is an inspiration to others. Her delightful
smile and friendly personality will be greatly missed. Ms. Clanton was
dedicated to make the most of life circumstances and she always worked
to make the best of every situation. "If we don't do it, it may not

BROWN BABIESThe
theme of fathers and family goes deep as San Francisco Black Film
Festival XV unfolds over Juneteenth and Father's Day Weekend. It not
only goes deep, but it goes international with a film by Mikaela Kirst
of Germany, "Brown Babies" which chronicles two Baker High School Alumna
growing up in the shadow of military base, Fort Benning, Ga, not
knowing their real heritage, an unknown Black U.S. Soldier and an
unknown German mother. More than four decades after graduation from
high school the film captures genealogist Henriette Cain of Rockford,
Illinois and Veteran actor Peggy Blow of Los Angeles as they connect
with family in Germany that had been lost for most of their lives. "Brown
Babies" will be screened Saturday, June 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the San
Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking, 925 Mission Street, San
Francisco, CA 94103 and 2:00 p.m. Father's Day, June 16, prior to the
screening of "DeSean Jackson #10: The Making of a Father's Dream" at the
California College of Arts, 1111 Eighth Street, San Francisco, CA
94107.Hollywood celebrity Darrin Henson, an actor, director and choreographer who has worked
with the King of Pop Michael Jackson and his former Bronx neighbor
Jennifer Lopez, will be on hand opening night, June 13 for the screening
of his film "The Hotel"
with its universal theme tapping into the power of music and dance-- a
perfect pitch for the San Francisco Black Film Festival perfectly placed
in June Black Music Month. Stars of Hotel along with Henson
include:Amrapali Ambegaokar, Carlos Korotana, and Mona Sishodia.

(Supervisor Malia Cohen's Father) receives 2012 "My Dad is My Hero"
Award presented by SFBFF publicist Jackie Wright on Behalf of His Cousin
Lionel Armstrong at Jazz Heritage Center. An essay written by his
daughter Tiffany Armstrong Gorman Garnered a Fabulous Weekend Stay for
Two for Armstrong and his wife, Kelly Armstrong. The InterContinental
donated the top prize again for SFBFF XV.
