July 27, 2013

Dear Friends,
AfroSolo Arts Festival 20 kicks off on July 29th with a panel discussion in collaboration with the Commonwealth Club and  Infin8 Sync entitled "Influences of the Arts: Past, Present and Future."  I will moderate the panel.  The panelists include: international renowned painter, Richard Mayhew, opera singer; actress and filmmaker Susheel Bibbs, Ph.D; actor-director, Peter Calendar and visual artist, Karen Seneferu.
From the evolution of Negro Spirituals to hip-hop music, the Negro Theater Ensemble to the African-American Shakespeare Company, the visual arts of the Harlem Renaissance to the works of Kehinde Wiley. This discussion will explore how the arts of the past have influenced art of today and how its impact may be felt tomorrow.
