The Significance of Veterans Day
 Millions of Veterans have fought and died for our country since the first call went out for independence.  


Dear Friends,

the Veterans military journey begins with the Enlistment Oath:

Enlistment Oath

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

As we honor our Veterans on Veterans Day, it is fitting to remember and recognize the sacrifice of ALL our Veterans, and to honor their service for AmericaThere are 22 million Veterans today. 
 

This Veterans Day, our Nation will celebrate and pay tribute in honor of ALL our Veterans, men and women who, from the American Revolution to Desert Storm, Iraq and to the present conflict in Afghanistan, have risked their lives to defend the United States and the principles upon which it stands. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been the longest sustained U.S. military operations since the Vietnam era, sending more than 2.2 million troops into battle.

"In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served -- not only those who died -- have sacrificed and done their duty," according to  www.va.gov

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.  

 

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.  

 

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." President Lincoln 


The Spirit to defend and move America forward is very much alive! 

 
We, at the Greater San Jose Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, believe that the returning Veterans bring with them valuable skills and a global perspective that can be of benefit to them in considering to enter the International Markets as a career.

President Barack Obama: "It's about how we treat our veterans every single day of the year.  It's about making sure they have the care they need and the benefits that they've earned when they come home.  It's about serving all of you as well as you've served the United States of America."

We are ready to guide and advice those Veterans who may consider working in the International markets to promote U.S. Exports and Investments.
