Helping Make a Difference in San Francisco by Joining Mark Farrell's Team

Dear Friends

We are looking for interns who are excited to learn about San Francisco city politics and make a difference in the community.  Whether your in college, retired or in-between jobs our district has openings during our Monday through Friday office hours.  If interested please send us an email with your resume and cover letter explaining why you’re interested in joining Supervisor Farrell’s office. 

Intern Responsibilities:

-  Interns' primary responsibility is front-desk support assisting constituents and members of the public who call or come into the Supervisor's office.

-  Interns help solve district-related or constituent concerns by researching the issue and proposing solutions which often include coordinating with staff across the City government and working with outside organizations.

-  Interns receive comments from concerned individuals and organizations who wish to share their ideas, concerns, or opinions on legislation coming before the Board, public policy, and important community events.

-  Interns will help with a variety of office tasks including answering phones; responding to correspondence; maintaining constituent databases; and drafting copy for press releases, newsletters, certificates of honor, etc..

-  Interns may be asked to provide research assistance to the Supervisor's staff and attend hearings or community meetings.


Minimum Qualifications:

-         An ability to work in a team atmosphere under tight deadlines.

-         An interest in urban public policy and San Francisco politics.

-         Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.

-         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications.

-         Passion to make a district in the city of San Francisco

Academic credit for this internship is available. Hours are flexible to the individual’s schedule, but a minimum commitment of at least 4 hours a week is required. Internship duration will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Interns will be based out of Supervisor Farrell’s office: City Hall - 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 279 San Francisco, California 94102.
