Silence
...There was silence in heaven for the space of half an hour, Revelation 8:1
And on earth....
As volunteers, partners, sponsors and workers of San Francisco Black Film Festival work feverishly to ensure our valued guests to the San Francisco Black Film Festival have a wonderful time of fun, engagement and enlightenment, we are aware of happenings at home and across the nation.
Thanks to The Cesar Chavez American Legion Post 505, the hosts of Robin Bates and Constance Bryan's Maison Noire Américaine's VIP Reception & Screening of Mariannes Noires and our media briefing last night, we were housed in the sacred San Francisco Veterans Building, 401 Van Ness Street, San Francisco, representing those who invested their lives for the betterment of our country so that we can enjoy the fruit of freedom.
It was only fitting and the circumstances of June 14, 2017 in Washington and San Francisco, from the east to the west, called for the evening to begin with a MOMENT of SILENCE...AND SO IT WAS SILENT! Those of us working to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time @SFBFF understand that hearts are aching many times as we seek to be solaced by what joy we can find. We extend condolences for those affected by the violence of yesterday and the violence that never makes the headlines...We remember Orlando, Dallas, Manchester, London, Mogadishu...We remember the world, "The San Francisco Black Film Festival healing the world one film at a time."
Wright Enterprises salutes San Francisco Black Film Festival Directors Kali O'Ray and Katerra Crossley for carrying on the spirit of reconciliation, enlightenment and understanding between races & cultures on the platform of an African Diaspora festival that founder Ave Montague created and worked tirelessly to establish. Keep up your good work to bring healing to our broken world. I pray many others will stand with you!

Minutes after writing condolences, a dear friend and community colleague, Kelly Armstrong, founder of Primed and Prepped at the Bayview YMCA called saying how saddened she was because "Big Mike" the UPS driver in the Diamond Heights area had been among those slain yesterday. "We are more connected than what we realize." Turning to Revelation again for inspiration, Revelation 21:1-4.
Tribute to UPS Driver "Big Mike" from friends the Diamond Heights Shopping Center.
