Jury's Verdict in the Murder Trial of Kathryn Steinle
San Francisco Writer Anh Lê Reflects
Commentary
The jury in the Kate Steinle murder trial rendered its verdict on November 30.
Let us not, however, dismiss nor disregard the life of Ms. Kathryn Steinle, the 32-year old woman who was killed by and whose life was snuffed out by a single bullet which pierced her heart, as she was taking a stroll with her father on Pier 14 in San Francisco on July 1, 2015.
Let us not forget Ms. Steinle's's words to her father after she was hit by the bullet to her back and collapsing in her father's arms, "Help me, Dad."
It is observed that many of the news articles in the print media in San Francisco have ignored the impact of the Kate Steinle killing and death on her family. This may reflect, in part, the defendant's chief attorney's numerous Op/Ed's published in the print media both before and during the murder trial.
Let us, both in the City of St. Francis and elsewhere in the United States, remember that the killing and death of Ms. Steinle has left behind her father and mother, Mr. Jim Steinle and Ms. Liz Sullivan, and her brother, Mr. Brad Steinle, to grieve deeply for the rest of their lives.
Let us, as the Steinle's fellow human beings, show empathy. Her killing and death has diminished us, our community, our society.
Let us not forget our belief in and the value of the sanctity of human life.
Let us remember the value and sanctity of Ms. Kathryn Steinle's own life.

Taking on corporate giants such as Uber and Pacific Gas and Electric, Judge Clopton is known for fearless investigation. Find out more about Judge Clopton at https://karenclopton.com/
Judge Clopton's love for law and justice goes beyond the courts. An example was her participation at Congregation Emanu-EL for the San Francisco Black Film Festival panel on implicit bias after the screening of Jeff Adachi's "America Needs a Racial Facial."
The panel discussion videotaped by Johnnie Burrell of International Media TV includes: San Francisco Public Defender, Jeff Adachi; Attorney & Founder of Advocates for Justice Jacq Wilson; Judge Karen V. Clopton and Oakland based Supreme Court Winning Civil Rights Attorney Pamela Price. Interesting food for thought now more than ever.
