SAN FRANCISCO, CA - June 20, 2018: The San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce presents the Juneteenth 2018 Business Forum & Awards Dinner on Friday, June 22, 2018, which celebrates the achievements of local business and community people, while honoring the significance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth recognizes the end of slavery in the United States, initiated by the abolition of slavery in Texas, and the further emancipation of slaves across the former Confederacy.

This year's event features a tribute to Rev. Cecil Williams, Co-Founder and Minister of Liberation of the legendary Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco. As minister, author, social activist, lecturer, community leader and spokesperson for the poor and marginalized, Reverend Williams is respected and recognized as a national leader on the forefront of change and in the struggle for civil and human rights. The tribute includes special remarks by Former San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown and Mayor Elect London Breed.

Breed and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development announced a new outdoor concert series in San Francisco. Program will fund outdoor music performances in parks and plazas across San Francisco beginning in May.
Tanisha Nicole Cyprian, a talented emerging business owner at the time of her enrollment in the program that teamed the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc. San Francisco Chapter and the City of San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, continues to grow and flourish recently adding magazine feature appearances to her business strategy. Jackie Wright, CEO of Wright Enterprises conceived and developed the program that gives women well paid training opportunities, is pleased to get reports of women who have benefited from the experience. The Doris Ward OEWD Workforce Development Program was made possible by Mayor London Breed's "Dream Keeper Initiative." Read More.
