( Is it me or do you think it's a little odd that under the headline of the story "Kentucky Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty"--you see a large picture of a Black man, who was a potential victim of the alleged murderer, Gregory Bush and finally you see a small photo of Gregory Bush, who is charged with the hate crime?  This is just one small indication of the giant problem of media coverage of minority communities.) 
Amid Cries of "Media, the Enemy of the People," the impact hits home and on Foreign soil...these tragic incidents after incendiary rallies, tweets and comments are just a few examples of the power of words.

LORRAINE HANSBERRY THEATRE'S PLAYWRIGHT'S FESTIVAL

Launched in July, the Playwrights Competition was developed to discover new scripts that would ensure prominent roles for African American females. The finalists were selected by a panel of theater professionals spearheaded by LHT's Interim Artistic Director, Aldo Billingslea, from scripts submitted by over 80 African American and multicultural playwrights nationwide by the August 10th submission deadline.

Breed joined State Senator Scott Wiener to announce legislation to combat fencing, the sale of stolen goods on City streets. Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
