The literary reading series is a partnership of The African American Art & Culture Complex, The San Francisco Library,

and The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., San Francisco.

The kick off their literary reading series on Wednesday, November 28, 2018  will feature Faith Adiele, author of The Nordic-Nigerian Girl’s Guide to Lady Problems and other women writers of color. These writers will share their rich experiences of being a woman of color in the changing political and racial landscape of San Francisco.

  • Our Voices, Our Stories is curated by NCBWSF Member, Lisa D. Gray.  The series seeks to provide a space and place for the stories of women of color, so their voices shed light on and build the vibrancy of San Francisco’s black arts community.
  • Every three months, four women authors of color come together to share their work with you, their readers.
  • Two established authors and two emerging authors select their best work and read from it for up to ten minutes each.
  • The highlight of the evening is a book chat with one of the established authors.
  • Authors focus on everything from fiction to travel writing and poetry to memoir. Their stories paint vivid pictures of what it's like to live in the world as a woman of color and explore themes and topics everyone can relate to and understand.
