Brenda Michelle Tibbs Wright
July 23, 1956-November 18, 2018
The Star of our constellation, Brenda Michelle Tibbs Wright, now shines brighter among those gathered unto God for eternity. The Wright and Tibbs families mourn the passing of Brenda M. Wright, Sunday, November 18, 2018, taking comfort that she went to our Heavenly Home on the Lord’s Day.
Brenda, a brilliant talented Star was born July 23, 1956 to the union of Bruce and Doris Tibbs in Cambridge, England. She was born into a U.S. Army military family that included elder brother, Bruce Tibbs and younger brother Brian Tibbs. After traveling overseas and in various states with her family, by the time she was in the eleventh grade, Brenda settled with them in Columbus, Georgia near Fort Benning where her father was stationed until retirement and where her mother worked as a federal civil servant.
It was at Baker High School, where the 1974 graduate, began the forty-three year life-long love story with Joe Nathan Wright that ultimately yielded a marriage of thirty-eight years and the blessing of three children: Damon, Candis and Chad. A loving mother and “faithful through the challenges of life,” wife, Brenda allowed her light to shine on others as she attended Chattahoochee Technical College and Columbus College, now Columbus State University. She worked for years at Sears Roebuck and Company at the Columbus Mall as a cherished and dependable sales associate. Throughout her life, Brenda had a very strong work ethic.
Her years as a faithful and dutiful wife and mother resulted in her supporting her military husband Joe at Fort Benning, GA, Fort Polk, Louisiana, and during his tour of duty overseas in Korea.
The couple ultimately settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Brenda and Joe saw their children graduate from high school in San Leandro, California. Through ups and downs and life’s celebrations, Brenda, a talented singer, visual artist, and cook, utilized her strong quiet faithful character to work for one of the most significant transportation companies in the world, Caltrans. Brenda worked in several positions starting as a Tollbooth collector at the famous Willie L. Brown Jr. Bridge that was the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge when she started. Working over 20 years at Caltrans, she ultimately assisted engineers with their plans for the expansion and maintenance of transportation projects.
Over five years ago, when duty called her back to Columbus to care for her elderly father widowed in 2004 when his dearly loved wife Doris died, Brenda retired and Joe resigned from their transportation jobs, Brenda at Caltrans and Joe at MV Transportation and left their home of over 35 years to lovingly care for “Pop Tibbs.”
The Wrights, Tibbs and extended families grieve the loss of Brenda “too soon” for their desire, but they rejoice knowing “God Knows Best” and that she is free from suffering and has joined her mother and other loved ones to “Give Glory to God” eternally! Brenda is now utilizing to the fullest her talents of singing, drawing, cooking (The Best Mac & Cheese in the World among other fabulous recipes), decorating and just being “sweeter than pie” Brenda. Her gentle and sweet voice still rings in the ears of those who knew her well.
Celebrating and remembering Brenda’s life are:

Brenda will always be greatly loved, missed, and remembered. A host of other relatives and friends join in heartful tribute to Brenda. All can be comforted by the word of God:
Isaiah 57:1-2
The righteous perishes and no man takes it to heart; the merciful men are taken away while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil.
Thessalonians 4:16-18
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Brenda M. Wright, the Star in the constellation of the Wright & Tibbs and extended families and friends is shining even brighter today in the presence of God, Our Father, The Lord Jesus Christ and Our Comforter, the Holy Spirit.
