BLACK HISTORY MONTH OBSERVANCES
San Clara County Board of Supervisors
to Honor Roy L. Clay Sr.
Mr. Roy Clay, Sr., an African American pioneer in the area of computing and technology, will be honored by President Joe Simitian on Tuesday, February 26 at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting in San Jose at 9:30 am., 70 West Hedding. He is being recognized for his distinguished service in Silicon Valley and beyond. Mr Clay began his career at Hewlett-Packard In the early 60s. His illustrious career has been documented in film and numerous newspapers articles and he was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame along with Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. HOUSTON MAYOR HONORS WHITE VETERAN'S TRIBUTE TO BLACK SOLDIER
George Moll, pictured left with Jackie Wright at ceremony "Love Separated in Life...Love Reunited in Honor" at Arlington National Cemetery, will be honored for his 2014 tribute to Sp5 Wyley Wright Jr. as Wright, a Fallen Vietnam Hero was exhumed and reburied at Arlington with the wife of his youth, Ouida F. Wright. Moll attended the service flying in from Houston with less than two weeks notice. He served with Wright in 1963 when he was 19 years old at Vinh Long, Vietnam, home of the 114th Aviation Company, which named its compound "The Shannon Wright Compound" for helicopter pilot 1Lt Kenneth A. Shannon, who died March 15, 1964 and Wright, a helicopter crew chief, who died March 9, 1964.
Mayor Sylvester Turner will present a Certificate of Honor to Moll at 4:00 p.m. at Houston City Hall February 20, 2019 commending his actions chronicled in the film named after the ceremony, "Love Separated in Life...Love Reunited in Honor directed by Jackie Wright of Wright Enterprises and Jack LiVolsi of Jackson Media Partners. The film won the 2018 Houston International Film Festival Gold Remi Award for Short Documentary. Click here for more about the film.

IN MEMORIAM
San Francisco Artist Eugene White, was laid to rest on Monday, February 18, 2019 with services at Third Baptist Church. His beloved wife Lynette White, a community activist mourns his loss with family and many friends. Her care for Mr. White was inspirational as she kept the community abreast on Facebook of his triumphant and struggling days during his illness. University of Georgia graduates, VJ (Vanessa) Roberts and Oz Roberts mourn the loss of Ms. Gaynell Hawks Wells, VJ's mother of Gainesville, Georgia. Mrs. Wells always supportive of her daughter Vanessa, an actress, a radio host, educator, writer, lecturer & producer and her son-in-law, Oz, director & producer of the Miss Georgia Pageant, producer of AFLAC commercials and photographer, will be greatly missed. "I will never forget Mrs. Wells' spirit of hospitality! As a divorced mother working my way through the University of Georgia, raising my teenaged sister along with my elementary school aged daughter, Mrs. Wells welcomed me and my family to her table filled with down home southern cooking. Her "salt of the earth" sweetness looms large in my mind as she lived out the biblical admonition to have a spirit of hospitality "for who knows you may be entertaining angels" as it says in Hebrews.
