2019 Spring Festival
Big Congratulations to Angela as she is named as the David Palmer Scholar Student of the Year 2018-2019 (made possible by Carol Emory and the Wingate Foundation).
Carol Emory and John Wingate inaugurated their San Francisco Ballet School scholarship support in the year that David Palmer retired from his role as principal dancer at San Francisco Ballet, and thus named the scholarship in his honor. Mr. Wingate has since passed away, but his son, Todd Wingate, continues to fund the scholarship as part of his father's generous legacy through the Wingate Foundation.
Thank you to San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet Foundation and Carol Emory, Todd Wingate and the Wingate Foundation!
San Francisco NutcrackerBallet 2019
The story of the Nutcracker is best told year after year on the stage of the War Memorial Opera House as danced by the San Francisco Ballet Company for the past 74 years. This year will be no different, with one exception. Our young ballerina Miss Angela Watson has hung up her Princess Clara tiara and her Dragonfly wings after dancing the lead role of Clara for 2 consecutive seasons (the one and only African-American to do so in the 74 year history of the S.F. Ballet Nutcracker - historical!) and she has now moved on to train as an Advanced Women’s Preprofessional. However, while you may not have had the pleasure of her performance on stage last season, this year marks the 75th Annual S.F.Nutcracker Season, and you might chance a glance of her in a character role such as a small Snow Flake or Flower from the Land of Dreams when you purchase your tickets to this long time Holiday Tradition, the most exquisite in the Nation. ExploreNutcracker and the upcoming schedule of performances and exciting activities of this specialHoliday Tradition and 75th Year Celebration, opening December 11-29, 2019 (GroupTix):
