Amid Coronavirus News, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women San Francisco Chapter's Multicultural Fifteenth Annual "Golden Girls Hats and Gloves 'Bridging the Generations' Tea" Will Proceed With CDC Guidelines in Mind
The local chapter has received confirmation from the Fairmont Hotel of its staff adherence to CDC Guidelines. With that assurance, the annual fundraiser that benefits the organization's role in advocacy, health, education and economic empowerment will continue as scheduled.
San Francisco- With news of the global effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus, the San Francisco Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW), to ensure that proper health protocols from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be followed, contacted the historic Fairmont Hotel. It is where the "Fifteenth Annual Golden Girls 'Bridging the Generations' Hats and Gloves Tea will be held March 14, 2020. Fairmont Hotel leadership has confirmed that it will be following the advise of the CDC in light of the Coronavirus.
"We were pleased to receive assurances from the Fairmont Hotel where the event has been held annually since its inception in 2005," said Dr. Maxine Hickman, President of San Francisco NCBW and National Board Member of NCBW. "We are also asking our members and tea guests to be aware of steps they should take as well." Precautions include to:
· Stay home if sick
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick
· Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
· Cover coughs or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
· Clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
· Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
· If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. SFNCBW will provide hand sanitizer for each table.

The San Francisco chapter will host the tea honoring unsung "Sheroes" beginning with registration and a silent auction at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the historic Fairmont Hotel, 950 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. The tea and program begin promptly at 12:30 p.m.
Award winning-Bay Area Journalist Pam Moore of KRON-TV, will emcee the Golden Girls Tea with Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton as the keynote speaker.
2020 Honorees Include: iCan Foundation Executive Director, Alpha Buie (Advocacy Award); Young Musicians Choral Orchestra Founder, Daisy Newman (Golden Girl & Arts Awards); Five Point Vice President, La Shon Walker (Community Service Award); Development Director UNCF, Monica Sudduth (Education Award); Wise Health Owner, Brittney Doyle (Entrepreneur Award); Kaiser Permanente Internal Medicine Physician, Dr. Gina Gregory-Burns (Health Award); UCSF Mount Zion Hospital Professor of Clinical Surgery, Dr. Cheryl Ewing (Trailblazer Award) and Wells Fargo Executive Vice President San Francisco Region, Wells Fargo, Ina Murray (Corporate Award).
"The Golden Girls Hats and Gloves 'Bridging the Generations' Tea" is often sold out as special guests such as United States Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Judge Teri L. Jackson, (a previous speaker at the tea), former NCBW Honorees, SF Giants Announcer Renel Brooks Moon and former California Public Utilities Commission Judge Karen Clopton and other notable guests are in attendance. "We advise all of our friends to get their tickets as soon as possible," said Cynthia Moten, Tea Chairperson. "There is still time for sponsorships by acting now."
The awe-inspiring event is a cultural experience. The NCBW SF Cultural Chair Sylvia Lindsay, a member of the San Francisco Opera Board of Directors, provides tea guests with the enjoyment of talent such as Opera Diva Hope Briggs and multi-talented performers Bradley Kynard, Michael Bell, and Shaunette Fulker. There is always youth talent such 10 year-old song bird Memphis Dempsey. This year 10 year-old extemporaneous speaker Myla Joi Clark, who has interviewed greats such as humanitarian producer and actor Danny Glover, will be on the tea program. Bay Area favorite, Grammy-Nominated piano virtuoso Ricardo Scales will also share his talents.

Proceeds from the annual tea also help fund the chapter's Doris Ward Workforce Development Training and Employment Program, a partnership with Covered California that has served organizations like the San Francisco Black Film Festival.
