From her inspirational career to her last words of the 2007 interview, the poise, graciousness, kindness and wisdom of Ms. Lange resonate with a message for 2021:
"We are responsible for the country we have. We are responsible for everything we see, feel, and hear around us. So let's be responsible about what comes in our homes and changes our behavioral patterns, our habits, or whether we hate or love each other and show our children how to solve problems not through the end of a gun, but through negotiation and through love."

PAID TRIBUTE TO LANGE FAMILY

San Francisco Black Film Festival Director Kali’O’ray Honored the Lange Family in 2011 for being a Bay Area Family Making An Impact in the Entertainment Industry. Actor Director, Producer Michael Lange was in attendance with his mother, Broadcast Pioneer, Jerri Lange. Projects kept Ted Lange from attending. Lange best known for his portrayal of Malcolm X, died May 20, 2015) .
Among others honored at the Fillmore Heritage Center Screening Room were Barry Shabaka Henley and his wife Paulina Shahagun, Terri J. Vaughn, and Velma Landers. The concept of paying tribute to Black Bay Area Families in the Entertainment Industry was conceived and produced by San Francisco Independent Filmmaker Jacquie Taliaferro. 
Sidebar: Videographer and Community Leader, Ken Johnson and others are lobbying to have the Fillmore Heritage Center Screening Room named in honor of Ave Montague, founder of the San Francisco Black Film Festival and Kali O’Ray, her son who continued her work after her death of a heart related issue days after the inauguration of Barack Obama in January 2009. O’Ray died 3 weeks before Chadwick Boseman in August 2020 during the festival that collaborated with the Durban International Film Festival and the Durban Film Mart, due to an undetected heart condition.  
The San Francisco Black Film Festival will be continued by Cree Ray and Kali Ray, O’Ray’s daughter and son along with his widow, Katera Crossley. The festival dates are June 10-13, 2021. @SFBFF 2021 News.
Barry Shabaka Henley of CBS sitcom "Bob Hearts Abishola" (renewed for season 3), told the audience that Jerri Lange who had been his professor at San Francisco State, encouraged him and was the impetus for him getting into the film industry. He said she put him in touch with her son, Ted Lange, "Isaac" of The Love Boat, right away.

Authored by Senator Wiener and sponsored by Mayor Breed, Senate Bill 925 (SB 925) would allow San Francisco to create permitting requirements to regulate the sale of items commonly obtained through retail theft and impose criminal penalties for those who engage in this practice.
