Dear Constituent,
Please join me this Thursday, May 13, from 6-7 p.m., for a virtual Town Hall with Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Congresswoman Lee and I will discuss recent economic relief actions that will help you, your family and our communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Congresswoman Lee will describe programs in the recently approved American Rescue Plan, such as the:
- Child tax credit increase
- Emergency rental assistance
- Restaurant relief funding
And the Congresswoman is particularly excited that President Biden recently directed Health and Human Services to provide funding to community organizations to help overcome vaccine hesitancy in underserved communities, an effort spearheaded by the Congresswoman and Senator Warren.
In my role as chair of the CA Senate Budget Committee, I will highlight actions the state Legislature and Gov. Gavin Newsom have taken to give California families relief, as well as new proposals we are working on for California's June 15 budget, including:
- COVID paid sick leave for taking care of yourself or a family member
- Expanded care and education for our 0-5 children
- Increased investment in housing for those now homeless
- Universal school meals
You can join my virtual Town Hall with Congresswoman Lee this Thursday, May 13, 6-7 p.m. by clicking here on my Senate website.
If you would like to submit a question on a topic listed above, please do so here by 11 a.m., Thursday, May 13, and we'll do our best to have your question answered during the Town Hall.
I look forward to having you join me and Congresswoman Lee for the May 13 Town Hall.
Sincerely,
Nancy Skinner
State Senator, District 9
