Meet the Characters

Akilah

In “Understanding Me”, Akilah is a young, Black girl that is filled with fun, curiosity, and love. She takes a trip out of state to see her grandparents and comes back home with a life-changing experience that is sure to stick with her throughout her lifetime. Although this is the first of Akilah’s many adventures, we need your support to ensure that Akilah can continue to share her stories with children all over!

The Kickstarter is LIVE!

As the team and I were walking through the launch for this project, we thought that there would be no better way to bring these characters out to the world than in celebration of Juneteenth! We’ll be marching towards our $12,000 goal. If there’s one thing I know for sure, I have a network of people around me that support things that make the world better. The S.H.A.R.E. Program

The SHARE Program is a program for Inner City youth that teaches the fundamentals of community service, earning capital, saving, and investing money. In addition to teaching youth marketable skills, this program also aims to keep Inner City youth off the streets. Inner City youth are targeted to help improve the economy and overall community in lower-income areas. With your contributions to the Kickstarter, you’ll make this summer with the Share Program Possible.

Angela Rena & Co, S.H.A.R.E. x Roots & Vines Summer Collab

Art by Raquel Rhone

This unique collaborative allows Inner City youth and young adults the opportunity to serve, earn money, save money, and invest time and money into their future. In addition, youth and young adults will receive professional instruction and guidance, which provides them with the life skills and tools that guarantee success from grade school to college and in life. Partnering with Roots & Vines Wine allows the SHARE Program to have a place to fundraise and to offer workshops for youth and young adults. During the summer, we’ll be hosting several workshops for the arts, including Writing, Illustrating, Jewelry Making, and much more!
