Dear PCV Community,

Our 25th Anniversary Celebration at Oakstop in Downtown Oakland was a resounding success! Thank you for believing in PCV’s mission of investing restorative capital and closing the gender and racial wealth gap, and bringing your lights to honor our community and entrepreneurs with us. We’re excited to bring 25 more years of community impact with you. Event recap video and photos coming soon!

The lineup of speakers, including Keba Konte- Founder of Red Bay Coffee, Dilawar Syed- Deputy Administrator of the U.S Small Business Administration, Don Howard- President and CEO of The James Irvine Foundation, Trevor Parham- Founder and Owner of Oakstop, Carolyn Johnson- CEO of Black Cultural Zone, and Bulbul Gupta- President and CEO of Pacific Community Ventures, brought invaluable insights, inspiration, and a shared vision for a brighter future. We even received surprise personal messages from President Clinton, along with Deputy Assistant to the President & AA and NHPI Senior Liaison, Erika Moritsugu, and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Wally Adeyemo. The energy and passion they conveyed were truly infectious!

Our entrepreneurs and community partners showcased their businesses, offering a vibrant array of food, wine, products, and live music that encapsulated the essence of our thriving communities. The culinary delights from Lila Owens, Javier Sandes, Alicia Kidd, Alicia Wong, Reem Assil, and Nigel Jones, as well as beautiful glass pieces by Ariana Makau. Electrifying performances by Moussah Camara and Celestial Bodies added an extra spark and fun vibes to the evening. In addition, Damien McDuffie wowed us with an incredible Black Panther AR exhibit.

Thank you again for your steadfast support to PCV and the entrepreneurs that make our communities vibrant. And thank you to our sponsors for helping us commemorate this special milestone - Surdna Foundation, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase Bank, City National Bank, U.S. Bank, Heritage Bank of Commerce, and Kaiser Permanente

Happy Diwali to All

During Diwali, The Festival of Lights and the Hindu New Year, we reflect on the human capacity to overcome darkness with light, both literally and metaphorically. It is a time to cleanse our minds, hearts, and surroundings from negativity, darkness, and brighten our surroundings and hearts, spreading joy, hope, and positivity. May we all be the lights that repel the darkness from our souls, minds, hearts, communities, and world, until there is only peace. Happy Diwali to all.
