Mayor London N. Breed and City Librarian Michael Lambert today announced that San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) will reopen 11 neighborhood branches for full in-person service by August 17, beginning today with the Park and West Portal locations. After the Labor Day holiday, the Main Library will also resume its pre-pandemic hours, providing evening service three days a week.

Mayor London N. Breed today announced details from San Francisco's new community policing and tourism deployment plan to support and safeguard a re-emergent travel season that is forecast to exceed 15.3 million visitors by year's end.
Outlining operational elements at a press conference at Chinatown's iconic Dragon's Gate this morning, Mayor Breed and Chief Bill Scott highlighted how the San Francisco Police Department's Tourism Deployment Plan will provide high-visibility and welcome support to an economic sector that is vitally important to San Francisco as travelers worldwide emerge from COVID-19 lockdowns.

Fanley Chen is the owner of GoApple, a cell phone accessories store at 913 Grant Avenue in Chinatown. Many of the customers there speak Chinese, some of them are tourists. Due to the decrease in tourism during the pandemic, her store's business volume has decreased. But Chen is a hard worker, and her store is open seven days a week. She is able to stay afloat and hopes that more tourists will gradually return to Chinatown. Read more from Anh Lê.
