Mayor London N. Breed today announced Stern Grove Festival, the longest-running free outdoor music festival in the Bay Area, will return to Sigmund Stern Grove for its 84th season this summer beginning June 20, 2021. The multi-genre music festival will run through August 29 with a full slate of in-person concerts featuring today’s most sought-after artists and local established and up and coming performers. It will remain free, but organizers will limit audience capacity according to health orders through an online ticket reservation system at www.sterngrove.org.

D.C. is to be applauded for having made significant investments over the years to end homelessness for families and veterans. Now we need to bring even greater focus, energy and financial resources toward ending chronic homelessness.

Mayor London N. Breed and City Administrator Carmen Chu announced the schedule for reopening City Hall to the public. City Hall was shut down in March 2020, along with the rest of the City, and has not been open for the general public for almost 15 months.

Program One: June 9-13 and Program Two: June 17-June 20, 2021. Created and produced by Thomas Robert Simpson, the Festival's mission is to nurture, promote, and present facets of the African American experience through solo performances and the visual arts.

Breed today announced a plan to create a new Street Wellness Response Team to improve outcomes for people in need on San Francisco’s streets and advance the City’s efforts to implement alternatives to police responses to non-violent calls. The Street Wellness Response Team will provide an appropriate medical and social service response for people who require immediate assistance but do not have emergent behavioral health care needs.

Mayor London N. Breed May 7th announced the City of San Francisco is planning a new public art installation to honor Black lives and the history of African Americans. The installation is planned to be located in Golden Gate Park’s Music Concourse next month, in time for Juneteenth, June 19, 2021. The installation, Monumental Reckoning, by former broadcaster and Bay Area sculptor Dana King, honors the first Africans stolen from their homeland and sold into chattel slavery in the New World.
