AfroSolo Arts Festival 20 kicks off on July 29th with a panel discussion in collaboration with the Commonwealth Club and Infin8 Sync entitled "Influences of the Arts: Past, Present and Future." Thomas Simpson, Afro Solo founder, will moderate the panel. The panelists include: international renowned painter, Richard Mayhew, opera singer; actress and filmmaker Susheel Bibbs, Ph.D; actor-director, Peter Calendar and visual artist, Karen Seneferu.

Modern Ethnic Fashion Runway Show will be held on Saturday August 3rd 2013 from 6:00PM to 11:00PM at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD) located at 685 Mission Street in San Francisco, CA. Sponsored by many San Francisco based organizations, including the San Francisco-Abidjan Sister City Executive Committee and the African American Historical & Cultural Society, The Gala Dinner is a benefit fundraising event for AFRICAN ARTS ACADEMY, an education program in the Bayview district of San Francisco, which specializes in African inspired arts, dance, crafts, music, fashion, fineries, and more.

Kennedy observed obsequies for the stalwart leader who will be greatly missed. The community trustee was spared the burden of hearing the George Zimmerman "not guilty" verdict in the death of Trayvon Martin.
