THE UNITY COUNCIL, a national model for the non-profit community development sector, announced the selection of Chris Iglesias as Unity Council's Chief Executive Officer beginning in 2013. Mr. Iglesias' selection comes as a result of a 2-year CEO succession plan launched in 2010. Chris brings nearly 25 years of relevant experience to his new role having previously served as Executive Director of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission as well as the Director of Regional Workforce Initiatives at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Mr. Iglesias will succeed Gilda Gonzales , the Unity Council's current CEO, who has served since 2004.

Prominent African-American broadcaster Tavis Smiley and Princeton professor Cornel West had their broadcast collaboration Smiley/West removed from the air at WBEZ, the large Chicago PBS station.
