Long before it was chic to be "Green," Senator Dianne Feinstein, who was Mayor of San Francisco in 1983, took two problems and came up with a "Green" Solution. Working with community leaders Feinstein combined the needs of troubled youth and the need to improve the environment to create the San Francisco Conservation Corps. Youth, 18-26, have been able to turn their lives around through recycling, planting urban gardens and learning life skills due to the people and programs of the San Francisco Conservation Corps.
