With 100 Year Old Iris Canada fighting from the hospital for her apartment home with former Burlington, VT Community and Economic Development Director, Peter Owens, the struggle for the soul of San Francisco is on showcase. Is it still a place to leave your heart with the most vulnerable being expelled due to rising rents where a one bedroom apartment can go as high as $3,000 a month. With the rising costs, a senior on a fixed income, can find themselves on the streets of San Francisco post haste after an eviction, as there is up to five years or more waiting lists, many of which are closed, for affordable housing. The Dignity Fund, "Yes, On I" Campaign" may be able to help the people who helped build the City and made it what it is today, but who are being quickly discarded. Without raising taxes, "Proposition I" will develop an added safety net to help stem the tide of evictions and other attacks on the elderly.
