Collaborating across the Bay, Collaborating across the Arts… San Francisco Black Film Festival and the California Music Industry Summit salute each other as they work together reminding everyone of the unique partnership between music and film. From highlighting Flipsyde's "Piper's" "Cops and Robbers" "Believe" off the new E.P. to screening "The Maison Revolution's" "Last Song Before the War" about the music festival held in the Mali desert near Timbuktu, the San Francisco Black Film Festival and the California Music Industry Summit have a lot in common and both provide a platform for emerging artists and industry experts to interact.

Dr. Maya Angelou, passed in Winston Salem, North Carolina, today, May 28, 2014. She is free of this earthly plane and she leaves her writings to comfort and inspire us. May God bless Dr. Angelou, her family, friends and admirers from around the world. We will miss her but we will have the comfort of her encouraging writings.

Since the eviction, there has been an outpouring of support and an unwavering desire to continue to reclaim the Marcus Books/Jimbo’s Bop City building – the symbol of the perseverance of the African American community and beyond and a beacon of a San Francisco that refuses to ignored or displaced. But new owners, the Sweis, real estate speculators and proprietors of City Wide Cab and Royal Cab, don’t care. They are destroying the history and heritage of the African American community of San Francisco. The Sweis have refused the Johnson’s access to the bookstore to pack their things.

It was sold at auction to the Sweis Family owners of Royal Cab Company and City Wide Cab.
